Packaging is beautifully protective. If you're giving this as a gift and you don't want to put together the gla and the pots for the recipient, the inner packaging is already gift giving worthy. What you don't see in the picture of the product because they're already planted is that the lower part that is the stem is also lovely stained gla and substantial enough to keep them upright in whatever medium you use in the pot to hold them in place. Colors in mine are varied enough to bring out the different leaves.
