...reveals the necessity of civil discourse and kindness to return our society back towards the basics of human existence; listening to each other without forming an opinion and an answer before the other person has finished speaking. When we hear without listening to the emotional needs of the speaker we are missing the most important part of communicating. Mr. Rogers knows how to listen and respond with kindness and takes each person seriously no matter how young. He demonstrates how to practice respect for others and maintains his dignity even as the trolls and the orcs and the Sorens of this world mock him. Too many do not know how to listen, even to themselves. No wonder they cannot listen with kindness to others. Human needs are belittled and ridiculed out of public discourse as many ridiculed Mr. Rogers who knew how to treat others. Listen and return to the wisdom residing in us all.
