The BEST JANIS documentary ever!
Review by Nikki on 09/05/20 review stating The BEST JANIS documentary ever!
I seen them all and read all the books and this documentary was, by far, the BEST JANIS documentary ever! It was so good... I bought myself a copy! I drove 70 miles north to San Francisco to see the premier of the movie Janis way back in the 70s. This DVD is so much better, content wise, however, I do have to say, going to the theater, in SF, and experiencing the whole vibe over loosing Janis was, and alway will be, a one of a kind experience for me... a true fan who unfortunately wasnt old enough to see her live. LOVE MISS JANIS JOPLIN! Thanks for your music JANIS. To American Masters... thanks for making such a thoughtful documentary about her.

The best of an era
Review by Mike on 07/30/20 review stating The best of an era
She was raw, honest and driven. I saw her in the Peirce St Annex in 67 with Big Bros. They were rough but she was top form. Only a few people there. Several places after that as well in SF then too. She used to tool around in her psychedelic painted Porsche 911, hi as a kite. The loss to us and the the music world was terrible. The woman knew the blues... So sad. Great DVD though, Thanks.

Best, Most Complete Janis Bio
Review by Snoozing L. on 07/30/20 review stating Best, Most Complete Janis Bio
I was thrilled when I saw this on PBS, and just had to buy it. Its the best, most honest, most context-worthy bio of lonely genius, Janis Joplin. Her pain was so unnecessary, yet so typical of those times.

Dream come true!
Review by Sweetpea on 07/30/20 review stating Dream come true!
My husband and I watched this on PBS and all he could say after was how very much he wanted to have a copy. Janis Joplin has been his fondest memory of young adulthood and his favorite artist of all time! You allowed me to make him a very happy camper and I thank you!

Little Girl Blue: Janis Joplin
Review by Nora on 07/30/20 review stating Little Girl Blue: Janis Joplin
This was an amazing film about the Janis Joplin that I knew from concerts on the East Coast. A friend from NYC watched it at her time. And we both ended up singing and crying along with Joplin. I will never forget the last concert we saw together at Yale New Havens Bowl. It started raining and she and her band had to move under a tarp. This was August before she overdosed in October. She said and I quote - Dont bury me in Connecticut, man, bury me in California. We both watched her - dressed in purple - a tiny figure dancing and carrying a bottle of Southern Comfort.
