45 miles and 45 light years away
Review by D2 on 08/18/21 review stating 45 miles and 45 light years away
I watched Monrovia and reflected on my experience teaching undergraduates at Purdue University in the 1970s, some of whom grew up in towns like Monrovia, about 80 miles away. I would have been a better teacher had I benefit of seeing this film before encountering these students. Even today, or perhaps especially today, Americans should thoughtfully watch Monrovia in order to help bridge some of the divisions in our country. My daughter presently lives only 45 minutes from Monrovia in a wealthy Indianapolis suburb. She has the benefit of husking corn in summers during high school in West Lafayette, but her current world is light years away from this small town less than an hour away. Watch this film and help bridge just one of our American gaps!
