Crows do not have the best of reputations. They are generally dismissed as spooky - Hitchcock used them quite successfully to frighten moviegoers, or as a general nuisance - scarecrows were after all invented to scare crows away from crops. But their image is about to take a real turn. New research has shown they are among the most intelligent animals in the world, able to use tools as only elephants and chimpanzees do, able to recognize each other's voices and 250 distinct calls. They are very social, mate for life, and raise their young for up to five years. And they are able to recognize individual humans and pick them out of a crowd up to two years later. Crow experts from around the world sing their praises, and present us with captivating new footage of crows as we have never seen them before.

I have always loved Nature programs. But this one, I dont think Ill ever tire of this one. A couple of minutes in, when all the human chatter was finally joined by actual crow sounds, my cat perked up, looked at the TV, walked halfway there, sat down, and was transfixed! This program was so informative, and the cat loving it was a bonus!

First watched this with my then 5 yr old grandson. We taped it off PBS and watched it many times. Am ordering the DVD to watch again with my now 14 yr old and my 2 yr old grandson. These are amazing birds and we would not have been able to see them if it were not for PBS.

I was disappointed when dvd arrived to see that it was in widescreen format. Nowhere is that stated in Shop.PBS for this program. I feel deceived. Let the buyer beware.

Wolverine the need for broad Wilderness Cooridors
Review by Wildlife A. on 07/17/20 review stating Wolverine the need for broad Wilderness Cooridors
In the past decade, Ive backpacked, hiked and stayed in the two (backcountry) Chalets in Glacier National Park. Ive had the opportunity to view the wonderful text by Doug Chadwick re the Wolverine and Ive walked in valleys and ridges where wolverine reportedly wander and live. The animal is a keystone species and we as citizens have a stewardship duty to preserve it and its homelands. The DVD is compelling, relevant, passionate and most worthwhile. I bought three, and shared them with wilderness advocates. Others should see the DVD and spread the message re this incredible and valuable animal and species.

This was the most intriguing real life experience I have ever seen in the animal world. Watching echo and her family was quite amazing the happiness and struggles they went thru. I bought the DVD for when my grandchildren get a little older than three can view echos world. I hope they not only get educated and have interesting thoughts about nature but fall in love with echo as I did. Best documentary ever.thank you for the time spent studying the elephants.

How lucky we are to be able to watch a show like Nature and view a presentation like Birds of the Gods. So few people would ever get to see such incredibly beautiful birds. I have watched all of your Nature shows and will continue to as long as you are on the air. I love nature!

Great! One of my favorite NATURE specials. I knew ravens were clever, but I had no idea that crows were in a class all their own. I have a new-found respect for these wonderful birds that are around me every day.

I think this DVD and subject matter is superb. If there is something good that can result from the ousting of Saddam Hussein, it is the restoration of Iraqs people and Iraqs wildlife and enviornment.

Review by Don M. on 07/17/20 review stating A Great Program on a Special Animal
This is one of the greatest programs ever produced by Nature of an extraordinary elephant matriarch, named Echo, and her family. I have watched it so often on PBS that I decided to buy it. It is beyond desirable and youre going to love it as you will Echo. I own many of the Nature programs; this is my favorite.

Facinating!
Review by Spring G. review stating Facinating!
I found this documentary to be one of the most facinating things Ive seen in quite some time. I already knew crows were intelligent. I was around when it was discovered that they could use tools. However, I had no idea they were this intelligent. its given me a whole new respect for a species I previously though of as a flying rat.

One Smart Bird
Review by Lynnie A. review stating One Smart Bird
A scientific and stylish film positing that crows are possibly the most intelligent animals in the world. A fascinating story of a crow research team and what they learn when they tag a number of baby crows in the nest and then follow the birds via radio transmitter. A wonderful segment demonstrating how a crow, presented with several tools, quickly figures out how to use all three tools to get to his food. Watch this with your children of any age and you will never look at crows the same way again.
