An excellent well presented documentary on Cubas submarine fauna and flora. Pity that this ecological surviving and submarine life recovery come at the expenses of the well-being of the cuban people living under an old retrograde castroist dictatorship.

Review by Nose's N. on 07/17/20 review stating Absolutely Delightful
I already knew some of the things in this documentary, but was amazed by how much more I learned. Seeing the movement of these birds in new slow motion video was impressive. I have caught only brief glimpses a handful of times in nearby neighborhood parks, and this DVD fills in only what I could imagine.

Played it on an older DVD player. Saw Deleted Scenes when it first started which disappeared after I had viewed the DVD. Then, a new DVD Player would not play it at all. So had to use my Computer to view again. (Which showed me the Deleted Scenes link.)

Cuba: The Green Organic Role Model
Review by Mr. S. on 07/17/20 review stating Cuba: The Green Organic Role Model
Did Fidel Castros perspicacity enable the man to see back in 1959 where the rest of the planet was heading, a planet contaminated by cars, tours ships, wars, manufacturing, the oil industry, toxic food and water, the worship of concrete, not to mention polluted rivers, lakes and oceans, and a tourist industry that can turn a country into a dumpster in exchange for a few dollars? The historical truth is that Castro wanted to protect his pretty precious island from aggressive and powerful forces including money hungry oil companies and investors who were the destroyers of any clean healthy environment, powers that can crush any green economic and/or healthy human growth. So the man with deep love for his country in a desperate attempt to save the pretty island, like a mother lioness fiercely fight to protect her cubs, Fidel had no other choice but to partner with the Soviet Union for safety. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990 Cuba, among many other things, was lacking in chemical fertilizers and so was forced to adapt organic farming and organic gardening so much so that now there are thousands of organic home gardens, and several organic farms on the island. Since pesticides and herbicides are harmful to both the soil and the consumer the organic farming and gardening is having a positive long-term impact on the health of Cubans, not to mention marine and land wildlife. Obviously Cuba has been though hell in the last five decades yet like boot camp training that can transform a person into a skilled disciplined soldier, the agony Cuba has been through in the last half-century were needed lessons that would eventually turn the island into an environmental role model for the rest of the world. Highly recommended outstanding DVD documentary from the environmental point of view.

The Real Story on Cubas Ecosystem
Review by Jeanie on 07/17/20 review stating The Real Story on Cubas Ecosystem
Could it be that the Cuban government has inadvertently played a part in its countrys preservation? This documentary should be shown in all schools everywhere. Well documented and photographed, this film could possibly have a happy ending for those naturalists who have been earning $25 per month.

As a Nature lover it opened my eyes to the beauty of Cuba I stil think of Cuba as run down buildings and 55 Chevys. The beautiful countrysides and the coral and fish in the surrounding ocean was very impressive. I particulerly loved the painted snails and the mirgrating birds from the US, You almost hate to see tourism come this paradise.
