LBJ Saved America Through Exercising Political Courage!
Review by Rico A. on 01/21/22 review stating LBJ Saved America Through Exercising Political Courage!
22 August 2016 LBJ proves to be the quintessential politician of the latter half of the 20th Century. Next to FDR, LBJ is the greatest civil rights president!

LBD: Incredible man, incredible documentry
Review by Jim on 01/21/22 review stating LBD: Incredible man, incredible documentry
I knew President Johnson personally, but only by mail. When I was on Okinawa in l947 as a civil service worker, I met and fell in love with a beautiful Okinawan girl. We wanted to marry, but the American military government said no, it was against their rules. For a year or so I tried every angle possible -- even sent an application to General McArthurs headquarters in Tokyo. Denied. Then on the sly I was advised by a State Department official to try my senator, to see what he might work out. I was a native Texan, LBJ was my senator at the time. Certain that a man of such importance would have no interest in nor time for a nothing like me, I was desperate and decided to try him anyhow. To my amazement: Bingo. Pay dirt. Just as if I were somebody important, he (or his office) jumped on the problem immediately, and after a dozen or more snail-mail exchanges, LBJs signed by himself, and a few telegrams, Senator Johnson had gotten a special bill passed and signed by President Truman, declaring that the girl and I could marry and come to the United States to live. Which we did. I was unbelievably impressed by the type of man he proved to be: one who not only cared about common people but who acted his feeling out. Thus I was not surprised when, as President, he did what he did with his Civil Rights work and his Great Society program. Vietnam is another issue, but for the moment let us dwell on the tremendous good he did for this country. Jim Martin Wilmington, NC 28403 Phone: (910) 791-5280 e-mail: [email protected]

Mesmerizing account
Review by Mona on 07/17/20 review stating Mesmerizing account
The combination of reenactment using original texts and brilliant commentary by expert historians who also know how to speak makes Mr Hamiltons life palpably real. Like Mozart (and others) he was a visionary born way ahead of his time. How tragically his life ended, and what could have been had he not died at the age of 49, is hard to imagine and comprehend. This program, as many others in the American Experience series is a must-own.

Brave Allies Rescued Former Enemies
Review by Maggie on 07/17/20 review stating Brave Allies Rescued Former Enemies
Americans seem to work overtime trying to make ourselves ashamed of our history. This is a time to remember when our airmen, as well as our Allies, worked tirelessly to save the embattled and starving people of Berlin (our former enemies!).

This is an honest hitorical account of Sister Aimee Semple MacPherson. It is interesting with many original photos and video exerpts tastfully integrated. This highly controversial charasmatic figure is portrayed with both strengths and weaknesses. The ongoing results of her life and ministry speak for themselves.

Model Scientific Method!
Review by Di on 07/17/20 review stating Model Scientific Method!
Ive been using this video since it first aired to help teach my 7th grade science students how the scientific method works. I show it after theyve had a chance to learn the experimental model and practice it themselves. They love the movie! Gore (mild), science, and history in a movie at school! What could be better?

A Tour de Force!
Review by Dean M. on 07/17/20 review stating A Tour de Force!
The American Experience series outdoes itself AGAIN. LBJ is as rousing and robust as its subject! Profoundly entertaining with great archival footage. Interviews with major players Henry McPherson, James Pickles, Jack Valenti, John Connelly, Richard Doris Kearns Goodwin, Robert Dallek are stellar. I found myself deeply effected by this documentary in its sweeping scope and Greek tragedy, disturbing almost. I was thinking about LBJ for a few days after I saw it.

LBJ FOREVER
Review by Blogger B. on 07/17/20 review stating LBJ FOREVER
I met LBJ twice... once in St., Louis once in Texas at Ft. Sam Houston.I have been enamoured by President Johnson.I was in Vietnam for a year as a Army medic. I never blamed JBJ for the war.The responsibility rested with the brain-dead military. LBJ had compassion for the poor and the lonely old. poor LBJ died a broken man. I have watched this video more than 50 times.

Good documentary although the actor portraying Hamilton was a bit offsetting and almost looked more like a ghost or dead version of Hamilton,

Now I Understand
Review by Missy review stating Now I Understand
Now I have a better understanding of Alexander Hamiltons ability to be the first Secretary of the Treasury, having been a teenage businessman in the import/export business. Few understood currencies and trade as he did. Also, his social ambitions are understandable when one realizes his aristocratic gene pool mixed with the humiliation of his illegitimate birth. He married well but was a rascal.
