A Great Look at the Gilded Age
Review by Ferg on 06/15/21 review stating A Great Look at the Gilded Age
Outstanding show that moves at a nice pace on the death of President James A. Garfield in 1881. From the political intrigue within the Republican Party between party bosses and reformers, to the look at crazed assassin Charles Guiteau, and finally, the horrific medical treatment the president received from his doctor; this story will entertain and inform. A mixture of photographs, historian comments, and nicely done acting of key events will be well received by history buffs and those just seeking an interesting and somewhat unknown part of American history.

Our family watched this program when it aired. We knew little about James Garfield, and were amazed at how little we knew about his life, brief presidency and his tragic death.
