Exceptionally well made, historically authentic documentary
Review by Sam on 07/17/20 review stating Exceptionally well made, historically authentic documentary
This is a riveting and soul-moving historical depiction of Americas First Peoples from cultural, familial, tribal, and self-preservation perspectives, accurate in its production and sensitive in the telling. It details a Peoples love for life and the tragedy of life lost to foreign encroachment on their lands and ways of life. It is one of the very best documentaries on Native American history and life. This should be seen by every American.

Excellent DVD
Review by Georider on 07/17/20 review stating Excellent DVD
This is a very well thought out telling of the story of the American West. It makes a good attempt to tell the story from both the Native American and European American sides and didnt really present anyone as a hero. At six hours long, itd a good value too.

My husband had seen this many years ago and had talked about it several times. I decided to get it for him as a gift and we both enjoyed it so much. It is good to see real documentation and less speculation.

This series is less well known than some of Burns other films, but it deserves to be seen. It is one of the most thorough and moving accounts of the history of Western Expansion and the destruction of Native American cultures.

This series has been overlooked -- but that is a shame because it is a brilliant and beautiful work by one of PBSs best filmmakers. If you like Rics work -- see this series.
