Almost indescribable

I watched this on NOVA many years ago and later purchased the DVD. The story, the saga, the trials and tribulations and the emotional swings make this one of the most riveting documentaries I have ever seen. The term mind blowing, while usually overused, fits this story to a tee.

What a valiant effort to save one of Americas Great War birds flown with honor and great risk during our aviation war time history. The anticipation, excitement and sacrifice of bringing this magnificent flying B-29 to life once again will keep you riveted.

Heart Rending

Nova certainly knows how to relate a story. In this case, it needed much more time to convey the real hardships of this daunting task. I felt a bit robbed of information and details when it came to the reconstruction of the Wee Bird and the relationship the party had within itself and with the air base. Still, it is very inspiring and unbelievably heart rending. I want more!

Excellent details of the technical difficulties involved with salvaging a B-29 from an ice field in Greenland. I could not imagine the hardships endured by the crew as they salvaged an old B-29. The final outcome (I do not want to ruin the story by giving details) was very emotional! An excellent story for any aviation buff!
