I liked this DVD so much I sent it to my son who has just emigrated to OZ so he'd have some idea of some of the le known things about his new country. His new wife, who is Australian, loves it, too.

I was fascinated watching it. My ancestors were the first people in the New World - the American Indian, the proud Osage.

Illuminating, facinating well told!
Review by Pato M. on 04/22/21 review stating Illuminating, facinating well told!
Saw the first four documentaries and was glued to me seat in fascination. The Australia episode was a bit less entertaining to me, although still a pleasure to watch. Perhaps Australia had less impact on me due to the fact that it had not much if any relationship to my own genetic history. A Must See for anyone interested in the origin and spread of modern mankind. Told all my friends to watch it.

I was thoroughly impressed with this series. I watched it on cable PBS and recommend it regularly to friends. I was so inspired by the revelations. It is so exciting to hear other plausible ideas.

We loved the DVD.
Review by Marnie on 07/17/20 review stating We loved the DVD.
My husband and I were enthralled, entertained, and educated by First Peoples. When we watch TV, I usually have something else to do--folding the laundry, sewing on buttons, polishing the silver, etc. However, this story is so fascinating that I put my chores aside to concentrate on it.

Even though I watched it on TV, I bought the DVD and watched it again, and enjoyed it as much the second time.

The message is too important to be so poorly narrated.
Review by Flying S. on 07/17/20 review stating The message is too important to be so poorly narrated.
My wife and I concur; the narration is rendered unacceptable by over driving descriptive narration with sounds of music, waterfalls and other audio material. It deserves a re-cut.

The narrator is almost overwhelmed at times by the rest of the sound track on the first DVD... But still this is amazing material!

Review by K+ on 07/17/20 review stating Wow, Basic Education for being Human!
Everyone needs to see this series. While scientifically based, it does accord with Creation. All of us are from the same origin and the same substance. Every school should show this. I also wish this was prime time fare on PBS.

Music drowns the narration
Review by Jeannee on 07/17/20 review stating Music drowns the narration
Sadly - the music drowns out most of the narration. This is a wonderful show but, if you are hearing impaired or bothered by loud background noises, you may be disappointed. Im sure this dvd could be digitally corrected by modern magic and its too bad someone in production didnt actually listen to this before they sent it out to the public.

Who is in our DNA? Where did they come from?
Review by Jerry on 07/17/20 review stating Who is in our DNA? Where did they come from?
An engrossing look at world populations and their spread out of Africa using newly developed DNA research as the primary tool of discovery. Especially interesting is the way this tool (DNA) has enhanced and sometimes contradicted previously accepted speculation about the meaning of evidence gained from traditional anthropological digs. The episodes have a bit of redundancy but I was enthralled.

Interesting Souding - Agree on Sound Issues
Review by Jim on 07/17/20 review stating Interesting Souding - Agree on Sound Issues
Im watching the 3rd episode on TV now, and agree with the other reviews saying the audio mix is off. I specifically looked to see whether the DVD might have a *separated narration track*. No idea based on the description, but I doubt it. Youd think producers would do this as a matter of course, just for accessibility reasons - Hmm, I wonder if I could sue PBS based on some half-sentence in the ADA.. Just kidding. I wonder if I theres an AudioUnit somewhere that can specifically amplify voice? Ive noticed this kind of over-wrought music/atmosphere audio track stuff on other recent PBS stuff (Recent meaning now as opposed to 20 or 25 years ago). It vaguely makes me think that science documentaries are trying to keep up with current action movies somehow.

Poor Audio Editing
Review by Dorm on 07/17/20 review stating Poor Audio Editing
Poor audio editing; first the background music blocks the spoken words many times and the translation of foreign speakers is drowned out by the speakers voice being to loud. Many repeated scenes and narratives trying to fill time to extend the program.

Difficult to Hear the Narration
Review by Pacerpack on 07/17/20 review stating Difficult to Hear the Narration
The audio editing and quality control was very poor for a production of this distinction. The music overwhelmed narration off and on to the point that straining to hear was not even helpful. A similar problem with voices over voices. We guessed that audio quality control people and producers had not viewed and listened to it before production.

Peaceful Connection of all of Mankind
Review by Song P. review stating Peaceful Connection of all of Mankind
An amazing true gripper of peoples attention and emotions. All people around the world have 1-3% or even 5% of the very same genes, their very DNA. This is spectacular! That means that we ARE all part of The Family of Man and we just have to stop fighting each other. No fighting! Problem solve and bring all of our differences together to lift all lives. We can do this.
