life and death in an assisted living
Review by Reggie on 07/17/20 review stating life and death in an assisted living
I own several assisted living facilities in Illinois where the state does in fact licence the facilities and has regular check ups. We are a family owned operation and we hire all of the staff and regularly check on our staff and buildings. we have cameras in common areas which are for both parties protection. I can say that since our first facility opened we have had zero abuse and zero negligence. i understand that we can never put our guard down and take anything for granted but I think that overall in the assisted living industry these are truly rare occasions and if they are not then I suggest you look to moving to Illinois and giving me a call.

A one-sided story - shock-drama
Review by Peter B. on 07/17/20 review stating A one-sided story - shock-drama
The documentary is less than honest journalism. Dark music and dramatic narration accompany unfortunate stories that suggest wide-spread neglect. A great opportunity to highlight the Assisted Living, and to search for real solutions to challenges of caring for the elderly in America was missed.

life and death in assised living
Review by Dj on 07/17/20 review stating life and death in assised living
a great informative dvd! my mother died in a assisted living and I had to go to the same place for 10 days of no care practically no care! I had a broken shoulder and was in a lot of pain. I could not get my pain meds as directed on the label. I spent many hours waiting for it because of lack of nurses. I also had a room mate who was not quite together and one evening, after the curtain was drawn I heard her slapped. I reported it but nothing was done BECAUSE I DIDNT SEE IT HAPPEN!!! I have begged my daughters not to put me in a assisted living. I would rather die at home! NOW I WONDER HOW MY MOTHER WAS TREATED, I DARE NOT THINK ABOUT IT. IT SCARES ME TO DEATH!!!!

Very truthful stuff.
Review by Corpsman on 07/17/20 review stating Very truthful stuff.
Im giving this to my family members. People have a hard time understanding what goes on in these places. I took care of my bed ridden mother for 18 years and no one outside my house offered to help. In Houston, Interfaith Ministries and St. Lukes Methodist Church does a lot for caregivers. Dont get me started.

Review by Ld on 07/17/20 review stating A must see, for Baby Boomers
The information on this documentary is of great importance for the children of older parents, as well as for aging people that do not have close family to help them. We need more of these factual reports to avoid being pray to the ambitious leaders of organizations pretending to be helpful to the elderly.

Spot on. This was my experience.

True depiction of this industrys 100% occupancy goal with little regard for resident acuity or care needs or desire to provide adequate staff training. My work experience as an RN Administrator in 3 large companies in Oregon was the same. Marketing all smoke and mirrors.
