I have absolutely loved watching this DVD. It is historic and it emotionally very intense and I shed tears. Two facts/questions stood out for me: 1. Natan (I do not know if this is the correct spelling)and I paraphrase, asks how is it possible that friend could suddenly become an enemy, because not enough Polnish people helped the Jews when in 1939 2500 Jews were suddenly depoted by the German Nazis from the little town Bransk in Poland. 2. Mischka (again I am not certain of the spelling) the young Polnish gentile historic researcher who tries to build a bridge of understanding of the Jewish past in his little hometown Bransk to the Gentile present, in Bransk is not one Jew left, has at the end not the courage to mention the rich Jewish heritage at a festival in Bransk, that in 1939 65% of Bransk was Jewish. The Shtetl is a breathtaking and heartbreaking historic DVD; in my opinion it shows in order that history does not repeat itself we must find strenght in the God of the bible and do what is right, in this DVD it would mean: stand up for your friends and support them, even in difficult times; and mention the rich heritage of the Jews in this little town. It was horrible enough that these Polnish Jews were deported and killed, humilated and hunted like animals; I think in the spirit of all true gentile bible believers we need to apologize and mention with words and literature that these people were our fellow men, and acknowledge their accomplishments and the past.
