I use this with Brave New World in my sophomore classes. Quotes end up as citations in their research papers. It suddenly hits them like a ton of bricks that Huxleys book is not hyperbole, but reality.

Oldie but goodie

This is w/o doubt the best expose of advertising techniques aimed at youth Ive ever seen, Ive used it with high school students for years. and thats the problem, the techniques change so rapidly and dramatically as technology changes that 10 years old seems ancient to current students, it REALLY needs to be updated PLEASE! Its too good and too unique to just fade away!

A bit dated

Fascinating program, but its ten years old now. It needs updating to include YouTube and other forms of Internet marketing. Young people today roll their eyes when they see Britney Spears in this video.

The only problem here is Douglass Rushkoff exposes marketing for what it is. While focusing on youth, this onslaught of media fired marketing that is hurled at us all 24/7 without stop. Advertising in this country is totally out of control. As a matter of fact advertising brought on by David Sarnoff was a mistake. Entertainment was the loser. Check your wallets America you are paying way to much, honestly.
