House: Frontier House DVD 2PK

I watched the first in the series - 1900 House- and thought interesting concept but Frontier House was just -brilliant. Most Americans fantasize the Wild West and wagon trains. But to see it for real- as real as we can today- that was something. Watching the diverse group slowly stripped to their inner truths as they tried to conquer nature, with little to fall back on but themselves and each other- I was a shameless voyeur. I watched every airing, videotaped it and recommend Frontier House to anyone. It can be watched again and again. You wont feel like, thats hours of my life I cant get back. Keep it coming PBS!!

My family and I have gotten this from the library at least 4 times. We all love it! I am so thankful a I am a woman living with modern conveniences. This is missing in our library and now it is the time to buy it! We will never tire of watching. Strongly recommned for families to watch together and learn of the true meaning of love and sticking it out together!

My husband and I accidentally ran across this show a few years ago, we were immediately hooked! It has been years since we watched it, and I have wanted to buy the DVD for that long. We finally have the extra spending cash to get it. I cant wait to share it again with my husband and show it to my kids too.

Are you content with your modern life? DO you like to stay within its cozy confines? Then dont watch this deceptively typical PBS series. By the time the series is over you will be questioning everything about what you take for granted. This series is ultimately a challenge for you to alter your life and take risks. It is a mind-altering experience that grabs you softly with an innocuous beginning. PBS? Who would have thought that this very safe public corporation could have produced such a Matrix-type of series. Im writing this years after having seen the series, when I came across old Frontier House videos during a house renovation. Im grateful for the chance to praise the filmmakers and families for what they showed all of us. This series is nothing short of shattering to anyone in our contemporary culture who is content with their present circumstances. Can you take a risk with your life? This film lays out exactly the possibility that you can do so and ultimately save yourself and our planet. This is NOT an educational video-it is an injection of joy.

Someone questioned if this is the original PBS version or the edited (PC) re-release from another network. This dvd is the original PBS version. The best version in my opinion.

Great Series. Its been 4 years since we first watched it and my wife still wants to buy it.

I just bought the DVD for my classroom. Previously I had it on VHS and was wanting to switch it over to DVD as my VHS player wasnt working well. Frontier House is educational, and entertaining at the same time. My class loves it every year!

While recently watching this vid, I noticed some things which werent as I remembered from seeing it in 2002. Chalked it up to poor memory..until I discovered that the series was sold to DIY network in 2005 and re-editied and a different narrator used. So, my question is: Which version is used for the DVD? The earlier version was much less PC.

Thanks for heads up on the PC re-do. We have the 2001 version on DVD and planned to purchase another copy as a gift...not now!

I am 60 yrs old and my grandaughter 18. We both loved this series!! We went back in time ourselves! We also loved the extras at the end when the families went back to the 20ith century. We are now loving this program but it is 2013 and we would LOVE to see an up date on the three familes more then ten years later, Please get them to up date us!! Will watch it many times. Grammy and the teenager!

I watched this when I was about 9 years old with my grandparents and now im 21. This was so interesting to watch it made me want to go out and live this way! I give it a thumbs up its very moving and just a wonderful series!

I loved this series when it first aired. Owning the DVD allows me to revisit whenever I want, to share it with others, and to see all the extras!

Great show, recommend to anyone whos into this type of life. Would like to see another production to continue the quest in Frontier House.

I purchased this item b/c my family was interested in the time-travel experiences. This one was great as it did help me(41) and my family (ages 12,15,18,43) understand a lot of the difficulties of the frontier. The families did well to help fill the roles, as asked. Great story line, wonderful area to portray the elements and hazards. Could not stop watching! The whole family thoroughly enjoyed! One family had a VERY hard time letting go to the 20th Century life, but knowing where they came from, I guess they did ok. Hated to see them have to leave it all after putting their sweat (and some tears)into their homesteads. Have to say, though, it makes you wonder, could my family do this? My family HIGHLY recommends this DVD set.

This dvd is a great educational tool for youth as well as adults. I check it out from the library 2-3 times a year to show the youth I work with. Now its time to purchase it.
