I'll Have What Phil's Having

Come along with Emmy Award®-winner Phil Rosenthal on these six offbeat and often hilarious culinary adventures around the world. Phil, creator of the TV hit Everybody Loves Raymond, meets the chefs, culinary leaders, and style-setters who keep their communities' traditions alive and create new ones, in kitchens both on and off the well-worn gastronomic path.

Disc 1
Tokyo - On sensory overload at first, Phil realizes that in Tokyo, not only must the food taste delicious but the experience has to be parallel, making it pleasant for all of the senses.

Italy - From the bustle of Florence to countryside of Umbria, Phil journeys across the land where passion and beauty are infused into every aspect of the culture, but most importantly, into the food.

Paris - While some people call Paris ""The City of Light,"" Phil introduces his favorite destinations in ""The City of Sweets,"" among other gastronomic delights.

Hong Kong - A newcomer to this ""gateway to Asia,"" Phil explores the city sampling classic to unconventional dishes, learning about Chinese medicine, fashion, mixology, tea, and more!

Disc 2
Barcelona - Phil explores Barcelona's rich history through food - from art and architecture to their love of pork and a quest for the best jamón.

Los Angeles - Phil tours his favorite food spots in his adopted hometown, and shares the diversity of Los Angeles through its food.

I am not a foodie so when my husband wanted to watch this series I was less than enthusiastic. After the first 5 minutes I was hooked. Yes, this is about food...and people...and countries...and customs...and and and. Well done PBS.

Live, Laugh, Love
Review by Caroline on 03/19/22 review stating Live, Laugh, Love
The phrase live, laugh, love has become rather cliche. However, there is no better phrase to describe this show. Phil displays a genuine zest for life, and watching this show always makes my heart full. It is so wonderful to watch Phil as he exudes his excitement over trying new food and experiencing new culture. But what is even more endearing is to observe the way he interacts with people. He truly appreciates every single person he encounters, and he puts genuine effort into making sure that everyone he meets ends up feeling wonderful about themselves. So, this show is not only beautiful, fun, and entertaining, but is is also inspirational. If we could all be a little more like Phil, the world would be a much better place. I hope there are so many more seasons to come!!!

Phil and PBS = Thank You
Review by Tina on 07/17/20 review stating Phil and PBS = Thank You
I have told ALL my friends that they MUST watch, Ill Have What Phils Having on PBS. I have encouraged people to get the PBS App on their mobile devices just to be able to watch anything on PBS at their convenience and ESPECIALLY this series by Phil Rosenthal. I loved this series so much, I bought the DVD because PBS will not air everything forever and I wanted to be able to watch this series whenever I wanted. I have learned how to cook an omelet from watching the LA show. Italy has moved to the top of my bucket list. I am in search of Duck Fat for roasting chicken. I absolutely love this show. Phil is an amazing host and Im so happy he loves food and travel. This is the best thing Ive watched on TV in a very long time. I may have to buy a 2nd DVD just in case I wear this one out from watching it so much. I love it. I love the out-takes. Fabulous show.

Phil has really made us consider moving to Barcelona! The way he describes the food while he is tasting it, is phenomenal. You almost taste it yourself. Incredible places, people, and food. The way this is filmed is truly artistic as well. We have told all of our friends about this show!!!

The Content Is Wonderful; Should Be Available In Blu Ray
Review by Edwardino on 07/17/20 review stating The Content Is Wonderful; Should Be Available In Blu Ray
I watched the Paris episode on my local PBS channel and immediately knew this series would make a great Christmas present for a dear friend who loves cooking and traveling. After Christmas we watched the Paris episode together and I immediately realized that it was much better in HD since the cities themselves are a crucial part of the series. Im not sure why they dont offer it in Blu Ray but, in my opinion, they should.

Both Boring and Annoying
Review by Redprincess79 on 07/17/20 review stating Both Boring and Annoying
Oh PBS, first Rick Steves, the travel nerd, who never goes anywhere but Europe, and now this?! Why?!? This guy knows NOTHING about food, nor other cultures, nor even basic manners. This show is for very boring people that arent quite ready to really explore the world, but would rather view it from the lens of an entitled middle aged white guy and his tired Wood Allen bit. I couldnt get past the first episode. Seriously, give us a little diversity!

Review by Not W. on 07/17/20 review stating Exporting Phil - Huge Win.
A friend of ours suggested the movie Exporting Raymond and our whole family watched it one Thanksgiving and loved it. We were surprised to see Phil again when the Italy episode came up on PBS. Phil always makes us laugh, and if you are into food or travel shows it hits on both barrels there too.

Good enough for my Daughter.
Review by Carl on 07/17/20 review stating Good enough for my Daughter.
The first three episodes were very enjoyable. Italy was heart warming, France was so carbs\sweets delightful ( no more curved causances for me) but Japan I found very fasinating in food prpration and presendtation. It`s the reason I`m getting this DVD for my daughter, who is a Nippanophiole and a good Manga artist, for her birthday.
