a new world of origami
Review by Dave on 07/17/20 review stating a new world of origami
Anyone who thinks they know origami will have a new world opened to them by watching this documentary. Wow is all I can say. This art has all the marks of maturity in the works of its masters. Classic, romantic, realistic, modern and postmodern expressions are very well represented.

Great movie shows the correlation between the art form of ORIGAMI and scientific thought processes. Their relationship is Symbiotic, a fact of which most people are unaware. Some of the photography focus could be improved but the content is so intriguing that its overlooked. Fantastic!! Should be shown in classrooms 7 - 12.

As a paperfolder since childhood, I am inspired to begin again. Moving from utility and fun to fun and artistry will be a challenge. I would love to see more.

A Film for the Classroom
Review by Middle T. on 07/17/20 review stating A Film for the Classroom
I came across this film on the PBS website when I was looking for information for my middle school classes. Each quarter I teach my students a little origami. I decided to show the film to my class after we finished making origami cranes. It was incredible to see their reactions. It is often very difficult to get middle school students engaged or excited about anything in the classroom. So, to see their eyes wide and their mouths closed while watching the film was a real treat. My 6th graders were particularly awe-struck. There were lots of nudges, fingers pointed at the screen, and Whoas. Some of the dialogue and concepts were certainly over their heads, but they were still visibly inspired and engaged by the feats accomplished with paper. I would recommend it for any age range.

Its amazing to see the amount of pre folding planning and calculations done to create their exotic paper creations. A very interesting DVD. My nephew is a top origami artist and (not on this DVD) and I know realize the work he has to put in planning his paper folded creations.

This DVD demonstrated what math can do - from paper folds to engineering inventions that can be seen in everyday products! This video has captured many pictures and illustrations, along with a great narrative, my three grade school children asked to watch more! This is educational, entertaining and inspirational.

I had no idea of what this would be about, other than Origami. What a great surprise! It was absolutely mesmerizing, and the production qualities are superb. Interviews with the worlds greatest paperfolders being worthy of a documentary? I wouldnt have believed it myself. Congratulations on a really spectacular documentary. Are you a teacher? Then see this film and think about showing it to your classes.

So Interesting
Review by Chooch review stating So Interesting
This summer, I happened upon this documentary on PBS and I found it very interesting. Who would imagine a doc on origami would have me pinned to the tv? I was happy to find it online and purchase it. Ive used it as a teaching tool, not only to discuss the art of origami, but also the possibility of the infinite.
