Incredible Voyage of Discovery

I saw this PBS documentary a few years ago and was so grateful to see it available for purchase. The story of the Corps of Discovery is riveting, moving and engrossing. Kudos to Ken Burns, Americas national treasure for this wonderful documentary of this epic journey of discovery. President Jefferson trusted his personal secretary , Captain Meriwether Lewis, to undertake the journey. Mr. Lewis relied on his prior military friend, Second Lieutenant William Clark to co-lead the expedition. The storytelling is magnificent!

Burnss documentary movies are first-rate.

Burnss documentary movies are first-rate. And so is this one. It was quite an adventure to become familiar with the adventurous history of the American West. Special poignancy was added by letting Native American voices be heard.

A great adventure and pivotal piece of history that is told with great detail, interesting excerpts from writings, showcasing the determination of the men to complete this challenge. Ken Burns and company creates another series to keep in your library!

A great history lesson

We all have known what Lewis and Clark DID since our elementary school days. This documentary explains the minutiae of HOW they did it. It informs us of all the drama, courage and commitment to a chosen duty that their expedition entailed. I found the documentary compelling and a great source of information.

My Favorate.

Everybody should watch this video and try to put themselves in time and place. Only then, one will realize how amazing this journey really was. Not only from a historic point but also an educational one. They truly were The Corp of Discovery. The video inspired me to read the journals of Lewis and Clark and visit sites along their route.

I would buy this product again and again

This was a magnificent DVD. The photography, personal descriptions and interactions and major adventures were superb. I only wish that there had been a little more information at the end about what happened to Sacajaweas (spelling?) children. I would see this video over and over again. A+++++
