Still a nice treatment of the Revolution

Amazing how dated things from just 20 years ago can seem at times, but by focusing on just some key incidents and battles of the Revolution, this video still offers very good insights. Excellent historian comments and some surprise cameos by actors who would later become famous...

Our Family Watches This Documentary Every July 4th

Our family loves this documentary, first acquiring it in VHS form. Its now a family tradition to watch every Independence Day; I do believe we practically have it memorized!

Well Done!

Liberty! takes you through all of the events leading up to the revolution, and gives great details into the war itself. This documentary keeps the viewer engaged and has real quotes and writings from the period, as well as great analysis and insight from historians. Looking to learn about the American Revolution this video is a must have.

Outstanding Military History

Film provides a perfect presentation of the military side of the American Revolution. Helps students understand more clearly the ramifications of warfare in the late 18th century.

WATCH IT !!!!!!!

If you love this Country, if you dont think you were taught enough in school about our Great Country, then buy, rent or do what you have to do but see this film. I am a Vietnam Vet and have had a lifelong love affair with America. Never have I seen anything that can compare to this equisite piece of work. Play it for your children, your Grand children, play it for your neighbors. This is simply the most captivating, engrossing, well thought out put together documentary I have seen to date about America. I am an amatuer history buff on this subject and by far and away PBS has outdone itself on this one. My contribution is on the way PBS, keep doing work like this and you will earn a lifelong supporter in me. THANK YOU FOR TELLING OUR STORY !!!!!!!!!

Sets the Record Straight!

I teach 5th grade and bought this video to bone up on my knowledge before I teach the Revolutionary War unit. Boy did I NOT know the real story behind the American Revolution. I got the glossed over revisionist version 25 years ago in my high school history classes. I highly recommend this video series for teachers or anyone interested in American History.

Historical in the Ken Burns tradition.

I found it very informative and brought to life much of the history I already knew. My grandson, age 9, however, tired quickly of the experts lectures. He wanted more action, more personal stories from those involved- I agree that would make it better for that age group. That said it was well worth the purchase and it has an honored place next to the Civil War and other treasured Videos.
