David Tennant (Doctor Who) stars as Will Burton, a talented junior barrister of peerless intellect and winning charm, who specializes in spiriting people out of tight legal corners, hence his nickname - The Escape Artist. Ashley Jensen (Ugly Betty) portrays Will's wife Kate, mother to his son Jamie and the rock of his world.

Much to the aggravation of his courtroom rival, Maggie Gardner (Sophie Okonedo, Hotel Rwanda), Will is in high demand, as he has never lost a case. But when Will's talents acquit Liam Foyle (Toby Kebbell, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), who is standing trial for a horrific and high-profile murder, that courtroom brilliance comes back to bite him. Foyle walks free on a technicality, but he is a serial killer and it is only a matter of time until he kills again. Will must confront his primal instincts as this thriller pushes his legal world far beyond an intellectual exercise.

Edge of your seat mystery!

Magnificently written and performed, this mystery will keep you at the edge of your seat all the way through. I havent seen a movie this powerful and haunting in a long time. Well worth seeing!

Excellent program, wonderful suspense, brilliant acting. David Tennant never disappoints; always a sure bet. Very happy to have invested in this DVD, especially since it wasnt streamed on PBS. :)

TauntThriller.Edge of you seat tension

My second viewing was uninterrupted and it was even better. First viewing was in installments when it aired in US. The setting, character development, plot twists was like Hitchcocks PSYCHO.

Riviting!

David Tennant gives us his usual impeccable performance as an unflappable junior barrister. The pilot then leads the viewer on a ride of suspense, jealousy, greed, envy and murder. Im counting the minutes until the next episode!

I need to see the rest of it!

came across it by accident on PBS, and watched what I assume is Episode 1. Where can I buy it for heavens sake!!!! Is the third episode out? Very creepy! Thrashing all around here...LOL

Should lawyers defend the Indefensible?

Thats the question raised by this thriller that isnt a mystery and has no good guy investigator. Our criminal lawyer protagonist answers the question posed above in the affirmative. He wins the case, making brilliant use of a legal technicality. Now he is confronted by the horrific consequences unleashed by his own cleverness. He, of course, is the escape artist of the title. A terrific film marred only by the speedy denouement so common today in films with complex plots. Too little time for assimilation after prolonged suspenseful intake.

Loved it from beginning to end

Beautifully written script and brilliantly played by David Tennant, it is suspenseful with a wonderful surprise ending. I watched the series on PBS, then bought the DVD and watched it 3 more times. Now Ive passed it on to my daughter who is a big David Tennant fan.

Gripping

This is a wonderful mystery. I held my breath and, wide eyed, followed along willy-nilly whether I wanted to or not. Gripping is a good single word description. The morality of the plot is, perhaps, dubious, but, nevertheless one hopes for the protagonist. This is not a simple black and white set of events. Its a real mystery. Enjoy.

Absolutely loved this show!!

This really kept me on the edge of my seat! Missed the last part on TV, so had to order the DVD set. Sharing it with friends who are David Tennant fans!! You wont be disappointed in this.

Justice vs. Law

With the glorious David Tennant to lead the cast, how could this chilling mystery lose? Once again, this man of many voices, many faces, manages to be one man at home, one man at work, and also summon up a much darker demon from within, and make them all believable, sustaining the suspense throughout. I dont much like horror and was a little worried about this story, but by the end, I even found myself cheering on the inner demon. Magnificently well played by all the cast, this is a story worth watching.
