SciGirls Season 3

STEM for today's digital tweens

A 2016 Parents' Choice Award Winner!
downright enjoyable"" - New York Times

SciGirls is in the house! And on the street, at the beach and in the park. From their own backyards to a NASA research center, these girls are seriously into science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Season 3 finds these STEM adventurers tracking toads, counting clouds and much more, all in the name of citizen science, the hottest new STEM frontier that engages the general public in real science. Scientists worldwide invite ordinary people - including kids like the SciGirls - to observe and record data about everything from birds to beaches, monarch butterflies to maple trees. The data is then shared with scientists, who use it to generate new scientific knowledge.

Watch middle school girls and their female STEM professional mentors hit the great outdoors, tracking the changing seasons, monitoring fragile butterfly populations, improving urban bird habitats, and much more! In addition, animated characters Izzie and Jake are back and finding themselves in sticky situations that can only be solved by STEM - and the SciGirls. When the SciGirls share their data with professional scientists, they save the day for Izzie and Jake and help save the environment!

VIDEO USAGE RIGHTS

Why the AV version? Because it provides additional usage options for PBS videos. AV versions come with limited performance rights so they can be shown in classrooms, at PTA meetings, during after school programs, and transmitted on a closed-circuit system within a building or on a single campus. They also can be enjoyed in admission-free public screenings, which also makes them ideal for use by library patrons and businesses involved in community clubs and organizations.
