For some reason, the original cut has been modified. Most notable, for one reason or another, is the removal of the When Spring Comes song by Dan Berggren. Dans music, as well as Dan Duggan and his wife Peggy Lynn, are a part of the fabric of the Adirondack culture. I had been hearing their style of music in just about any shop in the park for years, and it always felt like it belonged.

We are a retired couple living in Oswego, New York and I just loved this program. It gives a great demostration of how protected wilderness and privately owned land can work together. It also showed how some of the most beautiful scenery in Northern New York really looks like and how all types of people can enjoy this stupendous park. Thank you. Ken and Madeleine Esser

Having lived in the Adirondacks for 3 years, attending Paul Smiths College, I found this film unique in many ways. Its historical perspective. I found the film very informative and interesting, wanting now a volume 2 post olympic. Paul Smiths College, my almamater is now a four year college. It would be great to continue the Adirondack story with a new volume for the new century!

Years ago we found a two story boathouse for rent at Twin Bay Camp, Upper Saranac Lake and brought our family up there during the summers over almost twenty years. During that period we explored the park from border to border. Your TV program brought back a flood of memories of one of the best periods of my life. I am ordering copies for all my children for Christmas who , though scattered across the continent , continue to return to the Saranacs whenever they get the chance. They will all appreciate it. I watched this on PBS and was so impressed - I didnt want it to end! I couldnt express to my husband what a great film this was. It covered so many aspects and showed so many gorgeous views of the Adirondacks. My husband and I have never visited but now we are planning our next getaway to be in the Adirondacks, however first we are buying this film so he can see how great it is!!! I absolutely loved it! It was so well written.

Being someone who has spent a good part of his life in the Adirondacks, I am always looking for a good program on this special place in my heart. This program brought out all of the adirondack beauty and splendor, from its magnificent mountain ranges and wildlife, to its people and the wonderful villages that alot of adirondackers call home.

After visiting the Adirondacks frequently for many years, my husband and I finally moved here 2 1/2 years ago. Its always different to live and work in a place you once simply played in and this film really offers a well rounded view of life in the park. A survivalist mentality, appreciation of natural beauty, and pragmatic approach to day to day life are common threads that run through this community. There is still nowhere on earth we would rather be and we feel especially fortunate to be here. Watching this documentary makes us even more proud to call the Adirondacks our home.

If you want great Kayaking, you dont have to go west! Its right in upstate New York! It has one of the largest parks in the United States preserved along with private land. There are great views, similar to the Smokeys, without the smoke. Plus adventure trails and Lodges built for the wealthy, and now restored.

The Adirondacks are unique and unforgetable. It is like taking a mini-vacation to see all the familiar vistas and views...so much that is unchanging and unchangeable. I gave copies as well to my children who all live far away from New York now.

This is one of the best programs produced by PBS. It includes wonderful views of the incredible Adirondack region, it includes touches of history and well as the politics involved in trying to balance fair human use with keeping the region wild, beautiful and clean.

Inside the Blue Line is what the large Adirondack Park is know by those who have lived or visited this magnificent region. The documentary tells a balanced story of the history/development of the area as well as the tension between economics and ecology. Additionally the legal restraints put on land owners/developers is unprecedented in the US - but so is the partnership between government and the people to maintain the rustic nature of the region.

A nice portrayal of the adirondacks. I have watched this dvd many times and will continue as I love it. I moved here over a year ago and I will purchase more and send to my family so they can see that I live in heaven on earth.

I expected this report to be a great cover about the whole Adirondacks only, but instead it was more a video tape about a certain village with its citizens which probably enjoyd it.

I saw part of this on PBS, and had to have it. Im so lucky to live in these Sacred mountains! The photography in this DVD is priceless, but you have to see it first hand to really appreciate it. Just look at that cover shot! Very nice cross section of what the Adks have to offer, year round, and I love that the history of our loggers is portrayed in this DVD. Thank you, Mt. Lake, for yet another prime piece of material for all ages. If you cant come here and live this Adk experience, this is the DVD for you!
