Extremely well put together for scientific dummies

I am captivated by this DVDs informational beauty of Uranium. Dr, Derek Mueller made the very complexity of uranium clearly understood by a novice to say the less, and captured my interest at once. My science teacher could never incited my delight to know more about Uranium. The history, the 18 phases or states of uranium. Its molecular consistency and unstable characteristics. All information was mind-blowing. Thank you Dr. Mueller for whetting my interest in an area I know nothing about but was thrilled by your presentation of a very far reaching subject to my mind.I am purchasing this DVD for the contents and ease of understanding the scientific wonders of uranium.

Fascinating Program

The creator/narrator follows the story of how uranium went from being a side show curiosity to medical marvel to potential destroyer of the world. He looks at the history of nuclear power and asks the what if... questions. Ill watch this again and again.

Thorium not Uranium and the LFTR are the Future

While the world supply of Uranium is limited to another 50 or so years, Thorium is 100 times as abundant. Transmuting Thorium to Uranium 232 creates an almost unlimited (Breeder) energy source. It is virtually impossible to make a bomb out of any stolen U233/U234 The LFTR - Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor is smaller, cheaper, can be decentralized and requires no complex pressurized plumbing. It operates at normal pressures and can bleed off the Xenon 135 that poisons a Uranium reactor stopping the reaction after 2 or 3 years and forcing a new refueling. Why no mention of the SODIUM REACTOR EXPERIMENT

I thought this was extremely well written and produced. Part 2 discussed the nuclear waste problem, todays reactors use 5% of fuel leaving 95% dangerous waste. So there was talk of a new, intrinsically save fluoride reactor near 100% efficient. That REMINDED ME this documentary was so complete, but never mentioned the Santa Susana SODIUM REACTOR EXPERIMENT. The meltdown in 1959, just 30 miles north of LA, was classified for 20 years. Why?

This was an Awesome very Educational film the Darator was fantastic along with the filming~ Many Schools should be able to get these kinds of documentaries to teach our young Students the billions of years of Damages of Nuclear wastes, the danger it presents our world. Please broadcast many more of these programs.

Great presentation for students and adults!

I bribed my 8 year old grandson to watch it by telling him Id give him extra game time if hed just watch 30 minutes. He watched the whole thing and loved it. I learned a lot, also.

Best Discussion of Uranium Ever

A comprehensive look at this most dangerous of elements from a scientific, historical and political perspective. An objective analysis by a physicist whose final rejection of the nuclear power option is utterly persuasive. The section on uranium in Kakadu National Park highlighting the cultural values of the Aboriginal owners of Kakadu and the relationship of uranium to the Dreamtime is especially insightful. An excellent documentary. It should be in both school and home video libraries.

Better than a physics class in understanding the history and science of the elements of atomic energy.The subject was presented in a clear and interesring manner.
