The Burns team show us what happens when people worry more about their own safety and comfort than doing right by their neighbors. They show us what it looks like when selfishne reaches critical ma. It will happen again if we don't take heed and that's why everybody needs to watch this program.

Most scomplete video story Ive seen on how the Nazis used Jim Crow as a model, how these ideas were hashed out in the US, how the US racist quotas were used to keep out refugees, and how fast the killing escalated in Eastern Europe. This was a very informational movie about the treatment of the Jews during WWII. Lots of things we werent taught in school. Blatant disrespect of an entire culture. Theres absolutely no excuse to eradicate and entire culture of people because of their religious or ethnic background.

This film is not emotionally easy to watch, but in order to avoid future genocide, it is important to understand what led up to the Holocaust and how and why The United States government did not do enough to save European Jews. A massive number of innocent people were killed solely because of their religion. Learn from history through watching this film.

Very eye-opening account. It really fleshed out the details of what we didn't learn in history cla. Loved the insight that Hitler used how blacks were being treated in Miiippi to justify his treatment of Jews. No one has the high moral ground in this historical account!

This is one of the most well put together documentaries I have ever seen. It brings to light a side of the Holocaust that was never taught in school or even discussed. As I watched, I could not help but to see the parallels that we are living, in this moment. If we dont face our past and learn from it, its so easy to repeat the same fate. I have purchased this DVD after watching the series and will be showing it to as many people as possible. Everyone should see it!

A stunning, remarkable series. Given history, as well as current events in the U.S. and abroad, an urgently needed and brilliantly expressed multi-faceted message of monumental importance. Indeed, Burns calls this the most important film hes made. That alone tells you something. This series should be seen in every middle-school, high school and college in America. Wouldnt hurt if some churches screened it too. Enormous thanks to Burns and PBS for once again making a timely and essential contribution to understanding our past, living our present and creating our future. So proud to be a PBS member. And so proud to be a Jew.

I was shocked about the pervasive institutional antisemitism exemplified by the US State Department and deep public acceptance of antisemitism established in this series even though I was prepared for it having read Deborah Lipstadt. The horrors of the camps are like the mushrooms you see but pervasive antisemitism is like the Mycelium! This erudite and heartbreaking exposition is a valuable lesson and warning.
