I couldnt wait to hear that slinky music again after all these years. It created the feeling of the whole series. I only wish we could get the British version; much racier.....thank you. Its a nasty joy.

I, Claudius: still great after all these years

It was great to see this wonderful series again. The story and the performances really held up over the years. The quality of the recordings and the extras are much appreciated. I will be watching this many more times in the future.

Every bit as great as we remembered!

Who could forget that sinuous theme music? Starting the DVD took us back to the original immediately. Production values faithfully rendered here -- good restoration of both sound and video. A wonderful cast, of course -- all those budding BBC stars! And I can finally throw out my self-recorded VHS tapes from 50 years ago. Thank you, PBS!

Not what I remember

I remember viewing the series originally on PBS when it ran in the 70s and I believe there are cuts in this edition from the original broadcast, which I am not happy about. I know there were controversial scenes that were edited for the American market but I would have preferred the version which ran on the BBC in the UK. Film quality is OK, but hoping for better digitization.

I saw the series when it originally aired in the early 90s. This purchase was a gift for my sister and brother-in-law. They were delighted to have received it, and I have no doubt they will enjoy the viewing.
