A French Village Complete Binge Set DVD

This item was returned as I did not realize that it was in French with English subtitles.

It's a wonderful story. It's like an All Creatures Great and Small. Only it's set in France during WWII. The stories are lovely, warm and touching. It makes a perfect gift for the cold weather, stay at home days and nights ahead.

This is definitely in the top group of series. The story is of course compelling, the characters are well developed and there are so many points for great discussions. The acting is phenomenal, the sets are very accurate down to the smallest detail and I feel as if I was there with the characters. Overall I definitely recommend this series. Two thumbs up.

Magnificent! Multilayered with entwined plots and intricately detailed characters: were not binging, but watching the episodes slowly, week by week.

bravo to the cast and crew in this excellent production. the moral conflicts are so well presented, we feel the pain even all these decades later. every single actor is excellent and the narrative never lets up, and yet is historically accurate. the series doesnt depend on sensationalism or sentiment, but rather shares the reality of ordinary citizens finding themselves in impossible scenarios in which it is seemingly impossible to stay safe or always follow ones conscious. we are into the seventh year now and feel we can speak french fluently now (ha!). well be at a real loss when the series is over as nothing has ever compared to this series.

Very accurate view of France in WWII.

From the synopsis above ... citizens become patriots, traitors, or activists. If it were only that simple. The lines can be blurred when trying to survive occupation by a ruthless enemy. Virtually everyone faces moral dilemma. The very best dramatic series Ive ever seen. One warning - its like a book you cant put down. Be ready to lose a little sleep watching that next episode and the next, etc.

WWII told through the lives of a small occupied French village is compelling and reveals all of humanity's wrinkles. Astonishing!

It is very informative and well produced. We are getting use to the subtitles. But it wouldnt be The French Village without hearing french!

Binge-worthy

I am put off by the combining of so much chaos in a single story personal as well as political. I will not be watching past a 2nd segment.
