An Excelllent DVD look into the life of Eleanor Roosevelt
Review by Jo W. on 12/21/20 review stating An Excelllent DVD look into the life of Eleanor Roosevelt
I found this 1-disc DVD look into the life of Eleanor Roosevelt to be excellent. It had tasteful coverage of Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok who was most certainly the love of her life through their close to 30-year friendship including some amazing footage. It made up for Ken Burns superficial PBS Series about Mrs. Roosevelt. I dont understand why this Williams version does not receive higher recommendations. I found it by accident on Amazon.s amazing list. I so appreciate having it in my collection. What an amazing women, but such a cruel painful ending for both Roosevelt and Hickok. Joan B Wallace

I think it is the most accurate picture yet of the real E.R.
Review by Joan B. on 12/21/20 review stating I think it is the most accurate picture yet of the real E.R.
My opinion after having read more than 10-books about activist Eleanor Roosevelt is that I sincerely believe this amazing DVD is the most accurate of all made to date. The copy of a home-movie section of a playful, loving couple, Eleanor Roosevelt and her trusted friend of just under 30-years, Lorena A. Hickok, is simply amazing and historic. It was photographed while they were flying together on a special official visit to the Caribbean. I am pleased to read that this crusading activist is very likely to be pictured on the 2020 new US $10 bill. A late and just reward for this amazing woman. Joan B. Wallace- A Canadian.

Excellent version of the sory
Review by Fiftyplusmike on 07/17/20 review stating Excellent version of the sory
I use this with my 8th grade American Studies students. It opens with a powerful scene of Brown traveling in a wagon, sitting on his own coffin. This very much captures the students interest. As the story progresses, it does an excellent job of showing the conflict Brown faced, as he tried to provide for his family and fulfill his vow to end slavery. This is an essential tale that must be understood in order to understand how the Civil War came to be.

What a Woman!
Review by Missy on 07/17/20 review stating What a Woman!
One can hardly believe how set aside Eleanor Roosevelt was from childhood on in the losing of her parents, being virtually orphaned, saved by an excellent British school for girls, and dominated in her marriage by her mother-in-law and then her husbands infidelities! She was resilient, brilliant, and formidable in rallying support for the less fortunate citizens. She had true empathy.
