Coincidentally I turned on PBS because I was completely fed up with watching commercials on cable one night. Funny thing I wind up watching a documentary on advertising. It was so great I ordered the DVD. This movie is much more than a documentary on the advertising industry. Its an inspirational look at the creative process. There are lots of life lessons in this movie for anyone in any creative industry.

Very fine documentary on the art of the idea. Director Doug Pray is consistently right on target with his films. This is a beautiful, well-crafted, and entertaining journey into the minds of some of pop cultures mightiest advertising architects. It should be essential viewing for anyone endeavoring in any creative field.

Great Film with a Good Message
Review by Bree on 07/17/20 review stating Great Film with a Good Message
Art and Copy was a wonderful film for anyone in the advertising industry or who is just interested in advertising and its background. The first few minutes of the film jumped around a lot, but after that, I found the film to be both interesting and informational. One of the main take-aways I got from the film was that advertising is supposed to relate to people on a personal and emotional level. It was a great film and I will definitely be watching it again!

Shows that humans are creative and hardworking and dont just wake up one morning with these ideas - they have to work at it.

Digital marketers can learn a lot
Review by Extreme G. on 07/17/20 review stating Digital marketers can learn a lot
Art Copy might be considered a look at the golden age of mass media advertising; a retrospective, a bit of history. But the lessons taught in this powerful documentary will hit the bullseye for anyone struggling with the potential of digital marketing and social media. My only complaint is that the documentary wasnt audacious enough in connecting the dots between the past and the future of marketing and advertising.

The entire dvd was totally enlightening. I did not appreciate the inappropriate language, especially since I wanted to show this to my high school art classes.

For those confined to a small marketing budget or a limited staff, this will expand your thinking and give you the inspiration to take your advertising to the next level. It reminds us of why we went into this industry in the first place and the possibilities it holds.

Ive been in the advertising business for over 25 years and I cant say Im the sentimental type, but Ive never seen a better expression of what the business is really about (when pursued with the right spirit). It renewed my enthusiasm and my respect for my profession on the spot and reminded me what an awesome and rewarding business advertising can be.

A terrific documentary about the evolution of advertising from 50s Madmen days to today. It discusses the creative process of coming up with ideas, campaigns and how the great ones really reflected influenced culture. Also mentions at the end how advertising has infiltrated everything these days, how it is so much noise, and how the great ones are so simple and stand out...Got Milk?

Great history insight but the trailer was a bit more high energy than the film. George Lois is by far the star of this film.
