Excellent DVD

This is my second time purchasing this DVD. Ken Burns films are always the best. This 2-disc DVD is absorbing, interesting, and historically sound. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in Mark Twain.

The Mark Twain You Did Not Know

Another great history lesson from Ken Burns. As a fan of Mark Twain, I didnt realize what I didnt know about him and his life until I viewed this excellent overview by Ken Burns. Highly recommend this work if you want to know more about the man behind the legend.

Great overview of his life

Im so glad I ordered this for my grandson. Hes enjoying learning about Mark Twains life and times. It is a history of what was going on around him during his lifetime, and how he influenced that time with his new style of writing and the topics he chose to write about.

The best Humorist youll ever read.

One of the first books I read as a child was Huckleberry Finn. After that I was hooked and eagerly read anything I could find by Twain. As a child I related to the things Twains young characters did, and as an Adult I thoroughly love his humor and Social Commentary. I have probably hundreds, if not thousands, of books on my shelves, but therell always be room for Twain.

Public Library Cataloging Info?

Library Tech Questions and Concerns I am having a difficult time trying to catalog this video set of two discs. I am getting conflicting info on this video using OCLC WorldCat, Amazon and also your site. None of all three show that it is a two disc set and length of play is not correct to piece in hand. Item No.: MKTW600 indicates that it is a single disc but the cover shown definitely indicates on the spine of case that it is a two disc version. So there is conflicting info on your site in regards to the video set. How do I get feedback from you on my review and or concerns from this Library Tech on proper cataloging info?

Before his time.

I watch this fine film by Ken Burns and the thought keeps running through my mind is Mark Twain was a genius born too soon I say this after I catch myself thinking what he would have said about some of todays happenings. forinstance, Nixon, Agnew, LBJ, Jimmy Carter and on and on. The trouble with Sam Clements, if there is one, is how does one classify him? Humorist? Certainly. Political Observer and commentator? Certainly. Writer? ABSOLUTELY. I guess the best I can do is A GENIUS BEFORE HIS TIME!

Mark Twain

I first viewed at the Mark Twain Museum in Hannibal and was hooked---couldnt continue the tour---wanted to see the whole video , then realized how long it was---had to have it for my library---very pleased.

Mark Twain had such a long, colorful and often difficult life - who better to tell his story than Ken Burns, the master documentarian? Ive watched this all the way through several times and I still see more and learn more. Its a wonderful, interesting, tightly woven biography of Americas greatest writer!
