NOVA: Wonders, Season 1 NOVA Wonders is a fresh, lively series that makes complicated concepts accessible while taking a deep dive into the scientific process. Each episode poses a single big scientific question and takes viewers along on a journey to explore how far we've come in our quest for answers, and how we've managed to get here. Among the intriguing topics pondered are the secret language of animals, what's hidden in the human body, the artificial intelligence technologies that could rival and surpass the abilities of the human mind, the controversial power to engineer life in a lab, and the mysteries of the universe.

The series travels to some unexpected places to look for answers -including deep underwater, where humpback whales are essentially playing a game of ""telephone"" across the world, with pods teaching each other new songs; deep beneath our skin, where trillions of microbes are living in our bodies; deep below the earth, in mines where researchers are trying to detect elusive dark matter particles; deep into space, where astrophysicists are hunting for signs of extra-terrestrial life, and more.

Loved Whats hidden in the human body
Review by The C. on 04/18/22 review stating Loved Whats hidden in the human body
I just watched the segment on 5/2/18 titled Whats hidden in the human body on my local PBS station WYES, and it was so good I refused to break away to use the restroom as I could not take my eyes away from it. Very educational and inspiring for anyone who may be interested in the medical field or who may be curious of the true causes of ulcers, Parkinsons, and other diseases. Amazing information about how microbes affect mood, cognitive ability, and good health. I loved this segment so much I plan to buy the DVD Season 1 as a gift for myself so I can watch it again and view the other segments.

Genetic wonders
Review by Epi B. on 04/18/22 review stating Genetic wonders
I watched with endless fascination, one species after another, having incredible ways to communicate. And then, at the 44-minute mark, came the chief wonder: the studies of the dancing scientist, Eric Jarvis, who speaks of altered genetics that can disrupt a creatures ability to sing. Ah, a revelation! Is that what happens when mortals estranged by the Pubic Wars launch some wild killing spree -- simply a matter of genetic mutation that denies them the patience to learn a discipline, the ability to trust in the complexity of a courtship song?
