Ornament of the World tells the story of a remarkable time in history when Muslims, Christians, and Jews forged a common cultural identity that frequently transcended their religious differences. This film retraces an 800-year period in medieval Spain, from the 8th through 15th centuries, during which the three cultures, though they competed and sometimes fought, managed to sustain relationships that enabled them to coexist, collaborate, and flourish. Blending evocative location cinematography with dramatic and lifelike animation, this is a fascinating journey through the cities at the center of the story: Cordoba, Seville, Toledo, and Granada. Discover what made this rare and fruitful collaboration possible, and what ultimately tore it apart.

This is absolutely well worth the time to watch it at least once . Additionally you will probably watch it more than once. Basically this is a roadmap to what we as a world could accomplish. Together we could could easily transform our World into a very clean living environment with the highest standards of living possible, rich with culture and the pursuit of knowledge. If you doubt this review watch the DVD.

How can people from different faith traditions get along, and even thrive together? This is the implicit question that motivates this fascinating look into what used to be called The Dark Ages. Hint: it aint easy, but it can be done. Historians and archeaologists have, in recent decades, wrought a revolution in what we now know about medieval Spain. The authors and illustrators of this mostly unknown tale have brought 800 years to light, and what an amazing time it was! As a literate Jew who thought he knew a lot about what happened, I was amazed by my ignorance and dazzled by the world of Andalusia, and by the promise of its lessons for the modern world. Buy it, dive in and live in this world for two hours, and come away enlightened and enriched. This will interest everyone who loves history.

I thought I was well educated, but I knew almost none of the inter-locking histories of these cultures. The maps, experts, visuals, narratives are excellent. I invite my friends over for pot lucks; we watch this program for entertainment, and each group exclaims it knew almost none of this until Ferdinands and Isabella. 5s in all categories.
