It is Time to Restore US Citizen Privacy
Review by Larry M. on 07/17/20 review stating It is Time to Restore US Citizen Privacy
Acording to this Documentary the CIA and the NSA had all of the Information that they needed to Prevent and Stop the 9/11 attacks from Succeding. This being the Case ... then All of the Additional Domestic Spying has been and IS being performed is Unneccessary and Excessive. Isnt it about time to Restore US Citizens to More Privacy and to Focus on the Real Threats Beyond our own Border where 90+% of the Terrorists Live their Daily Lives where they Grew Up, made Acquaintences and Plan their Evil Deeds[...]

Super-Secret Investigative Video
Review by Evan on 07/17/20 review stating Super-Secret Investigative Video
Having worked in this field (and with colleagues still at NSA) I found the story instructive and gripping. But it also admirably points out the unobvious limitations of signals intelligence --sorting through vast data for what matters. For an accurate depiction of how signals intelligence (albeit low-tech) rests on HUMINT, also rent Fred Zinnemans 1973 Day of the Jackal -- the fictionalized version with Edward Fox of a case I know well because I worked it.

Better title Before 9/11

Excellent program. I wish it would show on HBO because more people watch a channel like HBO. Generally speaking, unfortunately, too many people do not appreciate PBS. Im purchasing the DVD to pass it among my friends who did not see Spy Factory.

Absolutely Enthralling

Great DVD. Have watched it twice on TV. I recommend it to all Americans concerned with the easy availability of entry of persons from other countries. It is an eye-opener for all of us. The NSA the FBI did a bad job of the whole 911 situation, here in the USA. Neither of these two agencies talk to each other, which is a travesty.

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING
Review by Dennis J. on 07/17/20 review stating ABSOLUTELY STUNNING
There is so much more to communications technology than one might even imagine unless one is involved with it. Satellites have been superseded by fiber optics running under the oceans all round the world. The sophistication of communications is amazing--and the NSA is capturing and filtering it all with banks of Cray computers. Now every telephone call, fax, or email one makes can be assumed to be recorded and listened to. All these billions of dollars spent on global and domestic spying. It is sobering to consider that these defenses have been built to protect us from ragtag civilian soldiers, dismissively called camel jockeys and ragheads, from some of the very poorest parts of the Middle East. Shocking is the fact that the NSA knew that the 9/11 hijackers were in the country and failed to pass the information along to the FBI and other pertinent agencies, and failed to prevent the destruction of the twin towers of the World Trade Center. Just how safe are we when billions of dollars and the best technology in the world cant keep us safe from people whose ideal society is a 15th Century Islamic Caliphate?

The Say Factory pre Snowden release
Review by Mouse H. on 07/17/20 review stating The Say Factory pre Snowden release
I cant believe all the attention Eric Snowden is receiving yet here comes the truth of the NSA and what they do many years ahead of him and nobody says Boo! This is one of the greatest stories of how the goverment is trying to protect us but in reality errors big time and drops the ball when really needed. Think of Katrina and the foot dragging by FEMA and how the Mormons were the first in action to send needed supplies there. It really goes to show that a big goverment and all of its resources can not do what it supposed to do. They had Bin Ladens phone number but couldnt put two and two together to stop the twin tower destruction. After watching this Im glad some one is trying to intercept unfriendlies communication but the vast amount they collect can they do something in time with the data? I am certinly adding this to my collection and will watch it over and over again, you should as well!
