Loved it, its of both my Great Greats Grandmothers (Mayflower)1620 and Grandfathers (Arbella)1630, side of the family. The names were all there and agreed with the the names that had been handed down. A better account of history that I could ever imagined. Thank you Wish it was in CD form. So I would buy more for my children and nieces familys

American Experience - The Pilgrims
Review by Tom N. review stating American Experience - The Pilgrims
If you love shootouts and car chases - stay away. If you want to know the circumstances , and unlikely story of how America got started, of how long ago parts of our Constitution germinated, this is the story. Im watching it for the second time. My previous experience with this part of our history has been on the level of: A ship of Puritans, whatever THEY were, landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620 and got the USA started. Got it, no problem. Uh,uh. The odds against their success appeared insurmountable. They had investors who seemed to be the kind of bettors who would spend it all on the worst looking horse at the track. They survived deserved attacks from different tribes, the weather, lack of food, landing far from where they intended to land, and more. The only American story Ive read where the odds against survival looked close to theirs was Breakout, the story of the 1st Marine Division in 1950 at the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. And that was a matter of only weeks, not years.

Loved the poetic tone of this historical program. Will be a great way to tell my family about the Mayflower connection that I discovered on line. It digs deep and talks about the pain and suffering they suffered and gave to others.
