Perfect for Non-Fiction Connections
Review by English T. on 04/13/22 review stating Perfect for Non-Fiction Connections
I teach high school English and I used this documentary as a non-fiction connection to To Kill a Mockingbird. My students really reacted well to being able to see how real the events from the novel really were. I would recommend this for middle to upper-level high school classes due to brief language and some images shown during the movie.

A Story of Injustice Rectified
Review by Jodi P. on 04/13/22 review stating A Story of Injustice Rectified
A typical case of framing innocent victims to satisfy the racist mythical fears during the turbulent times during the Jim Crow era. A true story that sadly rings true today.

Excellent, very informative
Review by Gq on 01/20/21 review stating Excellent, very informative
The documentary was very informative, painful to watch, proof of historical sacrificial realities, and evidence of one of the distasteful occurances in our black history.

An excellent historical account
Review by Granny on 01/20/21 review stating An excellent historical account
As an African American I was not completely unaware of the circumstances depicted in this video, however, I learned of the genesis and the execution of the notion that there is more than one way to enslave.

Adults and teens alike will find this program gripping and be left outraged at another sad episode in American history. This program works very well with the novel To Kill a Mockingbird.

In my opinion ,this historical documentary should be shown in every American classroom so that young people not only learn about a dark time in our history but also learn just how far we have progressed as a nation and as a people.

Scottsboro Boys
Review by Jac on 07/17/20 review stating Scottsboro Boys
Meaningful histroy showing the infinite depths of the racist core and evil among Alabamas white citizens, and gives a glimpse of the generations of damage and deprivations inflicted on hundreds of thousands of Alabamas black citizens from Reconstruction through the 1970s. One detailis missing from the ending of the documentary: What became of the Patterson guy who suffered longest in Alabamas prison and who esacaped from his chain gang to Detroit?
