Behind the enduring images of heroic rescues undertaken by the New Orleans Police Department in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, there is another story of law enforcement in crisis, even out of control. ""Law & Disorder,"" a year-long, ongoing collaboration among FRONTLINE, ProPublica and the New Orleans Times-Picayune, investigates charges that NOPD officers inappropriately used lethal force against New Orleans citizens and then tried to cover up their actions. Airing days before the fifth anniversary of one of the deadliest hurricanes in U.S. history and drawing from reports published in a real-time online investigation, FRONTLINE takes a fresh look at how the NOPD performed when the rules of civilized society collapsed.

Disappointed. Too Expensive for the Qual
Review by Mrswrite on 07/17/20 review stating Disappointed. Too Expensive for the Qual
This film doesnt show any new insight into anything the media hadnt aready carried. I was extremely disappointed. Considering the price I paid, I felt as though it wasnt long enough and the quality wasnt up to the Frontline standards that Im used to.

I teach a Law Studies class and one section is on police conduct / misconduct. I bought and previewed this and it will be an excellent addition to my curriculum.

The geopolitics of drug use
Review by Danny N. on 07/17/20 review stating The geopolitics of drug use
Impressed with the background of what we see in real life, this documentary highlights the global background of what we see in our communities with the meth epidemic. I am screening this for more clinical staff as an in-service training.

Great film for teaching Criminal Justice
Review by Texas342 on 07/17/20 review stating Great film for teaching Criminal Justice
I found this film to be an excellent addition to my Criminal Justice Ethics class. It fit well with the specific topics we were covering and I will certainly continue to use it in my classes. For those of you who teach university level classes like I do, PBS has a load of DVDs to chose from. I will be back for others.

Lawless and Dis odor
Review by Lynnie B. on 07/17/20 review stating Lawless and Dis odor
This documentary was excellent in showing just how disdainful the NOPD has always been; They are truly ripe with the stinch, decay and rot that was delivered by Hurricane Katrina. Props to Propublica and the Times-Picayune for their stunning colaboration.

Superb Journalism

Stunning in its revelation, masterful with its presentation. Ultimately, there is a feeling that justice has won out over the sad realities of what happened during and after hurricane Katrina. This is the rawboned true story of the critically-acclaimed HBO series Treme.

This is as compelling as documentary television gets. I teach criminology and am using this in class to show how policing can turn into abuse of power.
