The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo DVD

Informative Doc.

This was a gift for my niece who is a huge fan of Frida Kahlo. She had not been able to watch the whole series on MPB due to her work schedule. It was most gratifying to see her smile when she opened it on Christmas Eve during our family celebration.

Im a high school Spanish teacher. This film is outstanding; it gives detailed history behind the era of Frida, goes into intimate detail about her unusual life, affairs, personality, etc. It kept my students attention throughout. There are a couple of deeply disturbing paintings regarding her miscarriage; however, they are necessary to fully understand Fridas mental and physical pain which fueled her art. I figure that if it is ok for television/PBS, its certainly ok in a high school classroom. The interviews of her former students and acquaintances are fabulous. No dejen de verlo!

This is a fascinating record of Frida Kahos Life, including politics. Frida started painting in bed after a horrific injury. I was especially thrilled by her paintings, sometimes beautiful, and often dealing with death. Her self portraits show her as a thrilling personality. She is my favorite artist. I am going to see other DVDs of Frida Kahlo.

Excellent biography. One of the very best about the history of her!
