Best overview of causes possible Fixes
Review by Sue T. on 07/17/20 review stating Best overview of causes possible Fixes
As a science teacher, I want to give my students as much information about the world-wide situation as possible. There is a lot of pseudo-science presented in the media, and I appreciated this thoughtful overview of a real problem.

HEAT tells Truths Everyone Needs
Review by Gord on 07/17/20 review stating HEAT tells Truths Everyone Needs
In the PBS Frontline episode Heat, Martin Smith wrote and investigated a two-hour, behind-the-headlines report on the problem of Global Warming. He went wherever the evidence and the heated rhetoric led him, to learn about the sources and the extent of global climate change in the 21st century. He pulls no punches in interviews with Auto Congressman Dingell, with General Motors, with Exxon Mobils designated media officer, with AEP (power co.) and Southern Company (power co.) leaders who use the most pulverized coal. I have been an engineer with two coal mining companies and I retired from a Mid-West electric power company, where I trained operators at one of the safest nuclear plants and administered RD company-wide. Martin Smith and the producers of HEAT have given a searching, fact-filled account of our challenge and its urgency. Well done! -Gord Prickett, P.E.

This is an excellent summary for students to understand the complexity of todays dilemma of politicians to address global warming and formulate an energy policy of the United States that provides leadership but also considers the concerns of regions, industries, US and world citizens and our future on Earth...

Excellent and much needed
Review by Mac E. on 07/17/20 review stating Excellent and much needed
This is about industry and governmental responses to global warming. It illustrates the efforts that the companies and governmental agencies have made to deny the need for changes which are very important to our future. It illustrates how the concern for profits and political support almost universally trumped efforts for development and reform desperately needed if we are to ameliorate the disastrous effects that a warming of the earth will certainly have on us all.

HEAT --informative and well-done!
Review by John on 07/17/20 review stating HEAT --informative and well-done!
While conprehensive in scope, HEAT provides enough information to stimulate the viewer to learn more, identify additional alternatives, add info. and get involved! It does not (and should not) provide the answers/solutions. It points out trends, data and projects likely effects of do nothing and continue as is alternatives. An excellent teaching tool for all of us regardless of age, party or inclination.

Best documentary yet
Review by Thirsty I. on 07/17/20 review stating Best documentary yet
I have been waiting a long time for a good, scientifically-based-non-Al-Gore-doomsday film to come out, and finally Frontline has produced. This documentary not only presents many climate issues we face, but ties this into energy, agriculture, transportation, and U.S. policy. Great documentary.

Everyone needs to see this and be educated on the environmental crisis that we currently face. Education is the key to changing things becasue when people understand the facts they can then change their own consumption habits and also put pressure on politicians to develop a solution.

Connecting the most important dots
Review by Good B. on 07/17/20 review stating Connecting the most important dots
Heat is an immensely comprehensive look at both global warming and the inability of the political classes to come to terms with sharing the profound nature of this crisis. I have ordered it for an Ethics course because it brings all of the relevant mythology associated with alternatives to serious examination. In my work , i am concluding that we are at the stage of denial where people grasp for straws in order to presume that we can continue on our current path of unsustainability. Heat asks all of the right questions to the corporate flaks that continue to spin their tales. Mr. Smith is a fine, low key interviewer who drags all of the dead ideology out to the light of day. Bravo!

AN EYE OPENER
Review by Bill C. on 07/17/20 review stating AN EYE OPENER
I have just finished watching the PBS release of Heat on Frontline. I am 62 years old, a small buisness owner and consider myself someone concerned. I dont like hear say and internet opinion, I like facts. I like to see key people interviewed and quoted. I wanted to see what the issues were and what possible options we had presented in a objective way. Boy, did I get an education. Thanks PBS, as always.

Everyone should watch this program
Review by Laura R. on 07/17/20 review stating Everyone should watch this program
Everyone in America, including all school children, parents of those children, and older people who will leave the problem to their grandchildren need to see this program. You will be motivated to act after understanding the stakes of global warming and how Americas handcuffed energy policy only adds to the problem. We need to lead on this issue - and in the meantime, will create a new energy economy for the future.

I was depressed, I was elated, I am disappointed by our government and its inability to overcome its greed for corporate money and influence and stop betraying the trust of the American people while watching this, in my opinion, very important documentary. Thank you, Frontline, for your fine story...

Congress, Failing to Act for the People
Review by Len B. on 07/17/20 review stating Congress, Failing to Act for the People
Excellent, keep up the good work. It really goes to show that our representatives have a different agenda than to inform and take action against the depletion of oil and global warming. The US, unlike Europe does not have the interest of the people in mind when they take money from corporate America. We need to eliminate the lobby groups to save the planet.
