Secrets of Chatsworth

Step inside the home of the Dukes of Devonshire.

On an estate the size of Washington, DC sits Chatsworth, home to the Dukes of Devonshire, one of the grandest aristocratic dynasties in England. The tales of intrigue, tragedy, and scandal of this great family are inextricably intertwined with those of the house itself, from the decadent life of the shockingly glamorous Duchess Georgiana, to the tumultuous love story between JFK's favorite sister Kathleen Kennedy and heir Billy Cavendish. Peregrine Cavendish, the 12th Duke of Devonshire, shares the history and some of the inner workings of this great house and grounds, one of England's largest private homes, which is ""much more of a home than perhaps it looks from the outside… we're very lucky.""

Another great visit to Chatsworth
Review by Just J. on 07/17/20 review stating Another great visit to Chatsworth
Having previously seen the visit to Chatsworth in the DVD Treasure Houses of Britain, I still found this second visit very interesting and informative. I had also visited Chatsworth House in June, 2013 and loved reliving my visit there. I would certainly recommend Secrets to anyone planning to see the House and also think it provides and excellent background and so much history on the building and also to all of England. The history of the families who built these homes cannot be see separately for that of the country, and in some ways all of European history.

House of Drama
Review by Love H. on 07/17/20 review stating House of Drama
The history of its occupants was impacting: a duchess who writes a missive to her son in her own blood! Would like to have been introduced to its present family in more depth. Still and all, a truly grand manor house with magnificent grounds and furnishings. Good, but not great, production. While the history of its occupants was riveting, Chatsworth remained cold to me.

Another Wonderful Experience
Review by J A. on 07/17/20 review stating Another Wonderful Experience
Another beautiful English estate that has generations of history behind its walls. Going inside takes the viewer back centuries and allows us to glimpse the life of the peerage. I would recommend this to anyone interested in English history, art and/or architecture. I have viewed it more than once and never tire of seeing it - each time I discover something I didnt see before. Excellent DVD.
