I really love the set. You can see different areas in France. For those who do not know French the subtitles are great and for those who have studied French it gives you practice listening. The stories are pretty good.

Murder In..., Set 2, volume 1, 6 films
Review by Yolande C. on 02/25/22 review stating Murder In..., Set 2, volume 1, 6 films
In Set 2, volume 1, most films are about revenge. There are added elements to the investigations: legends related to a place or region, such as Bretagne (Broceliande and the legend of king Arthur and Merlin), predictions or medieval practices which either mislead the investigators or help them in resolving the murders. The Middle Ages were a period of brutality towards simple folks, as reflected in their legends, and therefore some murders are hard to watch in their results, for a few seconds or minutes. Otherwise, the investigations are made to be a real challenge, fueled by the mystery of folk tales or enigmas of Nostradamus, famous for his predictions of the future in a strange language (16th century). The scenes of the ordalie in Rocamadour are not an invention of the scriptwriter: such was a way of justice in the Middle Ages, in Europe (the word ordeal comes from ordalie, a terrible test by water for instance). Close your eyes for a few minutes to this harsh reality of people of the past. In all the films, it is better to concentrate on the investigation itself, on the intelligence and brilliant deductions of the team of two investigators.

Mostly great!

Some mysteries too gruesome for me to finish, but folks who like popular TV crime shows wont mind. I loved most of the stories though, especially enjoyed the relationships between the investigators.
