All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)
Review by encore1259 on 04/23/24 review stating All Quiet on the Western Front (2022)
This is the 2nd remake of this 1939 film based on the book by Erich Maria Remarque, All are worth watching, and have their own take on the original book. As for realism, this one truly depicts the horror of the trenches. A group of schoolboys, all friend, decide to go to war to protect the honor of the German Empire. None of them were ready for the reality. One by one, they are killed until the last of them, Paul Baumer, remains. He is killed as the war ends, 11 November 1918 at 1100. The friends all serve as a metaphor for the Lost generation.
